I suspect that the reasons for terminating my employment relationship are not legal. Can I get the opinion of an occupational safety and health authority on the matter?

Termination of employment relationship

The occupational safety and health authority cannot issue statements on the legality of terminating an employment relationship. We cannot issues statements even at the request of the TE Office.

However, we can ask the employer for an explanation of the reasons for the termination of the employment relationship and send these to the employee. If they so wish, the employee may refer the matter to the court. The occupational safety and health authority cannot do this on behalf of the employee, as this is a civil dispute. If necessary, the employee may request assistance from, for example, a trade union or a legal aid office.

If there are reasons to suspect that you have experienced discrimination at work, the occupational safety and health authority will investigate the matter. Even then, we cannot challenge the dismissal. Instead, we will investigate whether the employer has violated the prohibition of discrimination, and if there are grounds to suspect an offence, we will report it to the police for a pre-trial investigation. The Non-Discrimination Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of age, origin, nationality, language, religion, belief, opinion, political activity, trade union activity, family relationships, state of health, disability, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics.
