Checks on machinery and associated documentation

Depending on the reason for the inspection, the aim is to establish that

  • the structural safety of the machine is proper 
    • the structure and accessories of the machinery 
      • satisfy the essential health and safety requirements laid down in Annex I to the Government Decree on the Safety of Machinery 
      • on par with current technology 
      • conforms to standards. 
  • the machinery carries CE marking
    • in the immediate vicinity of the manufacturer’s or their authorised representative’s name and shown in the same manner
    • in a visible place, presented clearly and so that the information remains legible for the entire expected lifetime of the machinery
  • the labels on the machinery include
    • information that enables the machinery to be identified
    • the name and address of the manufacturer
    • information relating to the safe use of the machinery, and
    • warnings about any dangers associated with the machinery, either in the form of pictograms or written in Finnish or Swedish
  • the machinery has been supplied with an EC declaration of conformity
    • the original version of which has been certified by the manufacturer and is available in at least one of the official languages of the European Union (labelled “original”)
    • the original version of which has been translated into Finnish and Swedish if the original is in another language (labelled “original”)
    • that can be unequivocally linked to the labelling on the machinery,
    • that contains all the information specified in Annex II, Part A of the Finnish Government Decree on the Safety of Machinery (400/2008), and
    • that is incorporated into the instructions supplied with the machinery or presented as a standalone document
  • the machinery has been supplied with instructions
    • that can be unequivocally linked to the labelling on the machinery
    • the original version of which has been certified by the manufacturer and is available in at least one of the official languages of the European Union (labelled “original”)
    • the original version of which has been translated into Finnish and Swedish if the original is in another language (labelled “original”), and
    • that contain all the information specified in Annex I, section 1.7.4.2 of the Government Decree on the Safety of Machinery.

Checks to be carried out on partly completed machinery

Market surveillance of partly completely machinery covers checking that

  • the machinery has been supplied with a declaration of incorporation that includes
    • the name and address of the manufacturer
    • the name and address of the author of the technical file
    • information on the applicable essential health and safety requirements of Annex I to the Government Decree on the Safety of Machinery, and
    • information on the essential health and safety requirements that the partly completely machinery satisfies
  • the machinery has been supplied with assembly instructions for incorporating it into or assembling it with other equipment to make up the finished product, and the machinery satisfies the essential health and safety requirements indicated in the declaration of incorporation.
