Free time from part-time work - Alasivu

An employee who works part-time for less than 14 days or 35 hours per calendar month does not accrue any annual holiday. Part-time employees are, however, entitled to free time and holiday compensation.

The free-time accrual is two weekdays for each calendar month during which the employment relationship is in force, including any months in which the employee works no hours at all. In other words, a part-time employee is entitled to two weekdays off per each month in which he/she is employed.

The free-time entitlement also covers family members of the employer if the enterprise has no other paid employees, and employees working from home.

Such employees are not paid wages for the free time but are instead paid holiday compensation. Holiday compensation must be paid in connection with the free time or at the latest when the holiday season ends on 30 September.
