The requirements for asbestos removal are:

  1. An Asbestos removal permit. Asbestos removal requires an asbestos removal permit issued by the occupational safety and health authority. Asbestos removal permits are granted to businesses or sole traders. The Occupational Safety and Health Department at the Finnish Supervisory Agency acts as the licensing authority, handling requests for asbestos removal permits.
  2. Workers qualified for asbestos removal. Only persons registered in the register of persons qualified to perform asbestos removal may be used for asbestos removal. Registration requests are processed by the Occupational Safety and Health Department at the Finnish Supervisory Agency.
  3. An advance notice of asbestos removal to the occupational health and safety authority. Before beginning asbestos removal, a notice must be submitted to regional occupational safety and health authority, i.e. the Occupational Safety and Health Department at the Finnish Supervisory Agency.
Note! The online form for submitting an advance notice of asbestos removal (in Finnish and Swedish) has been moved to the local government e-service. Using the form requires Suomi.fi identification.
