We are approaching the end of a fixed-term lay-off and there is still no work. What should we do?


Lay-offs due to a temporary reduction in demand are limited to a period of 90 days. If there is still no work at the end of the fixed-term lay-off, the employer can issue a new lay-off notice and extend the lay-off. To prevent a break between the two lay-off periods, the second lay-off must be announced with enough notice before the end of the original fixed-term lay-off.
