Occupational Safety and Health Board
The Occupational Safety and Health Board is a statutory cooperation body that serves as a national link between the occupational safety and health authority (Occupational Safety and Health Department at the Finnish Supervisory Agency), occupational safety and health expert organisations and labour market organisations.
The board discusses and adopts decisions on the OSH authority’s important development, planning and monitoring projects, the OSH authority’s general policies and performance targets, and the allocation of resources and other matters important for the development of working environments.
During its current term 2026–2028, the board includes representatives from Akava, the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK), the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK), the Finnish Confederation of Salaried Employees STTK, the Local Government and County Employers (KT), the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (TTL) and the Office for the Government as Employer (VTML). The board is chaired by Markku Rautio, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department.
The Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health
The guidelines for occupational safety and health enforcement are also discussed in the Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, which is a body appointed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. The advisory committee’s agenda includes more extensive occupational safety and health-related entities, such as the European Union’s and Finland’s occupational safety and health strategy, and national occupational safety and health development projects. The composition of the Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health during its current term of office (2024–2027) can be found on the Ministry’s website.
