Can I apply for study leave for education organised in an apprenticeship with another employer?
The Study Leave Act does not exclude the possibility of applying for study leave for an apprenticeship. If the training is subject to public supervision and all other prerequisites for study leave are met, you can apply for study leave. Education subject to public supervision includes education organised by the state or a municipality, which also includes Open University studies.
Please note that your employer grants study leave for studies, so the main focus must be on studying, not working. You must also take into account any non-competition obligations and the loyalty obligation you as an employee are subject to with regard to your employer, such as the obligation to keep all information that could potentially harm your employer a secret and the prohibition to enter into part-time employment with another employer engaged in competing activities.
If you are already in an apprenticeship, you cannot apply for study leave.
